Cash Management and Reconciliation Assistant

My client is looking for a Cash Management and Reconciliation Assistant to join their payments team. This is a 6 months’ temp role which requires an” all-rounder” who is able and willing to undertake any tasks from general customer and supplier processing through to reconciling bank and control accounts, and updating the fixed asset register with oversight from the Financial Controller. Key responsibilities will be reconciling bank accounts daily, dealing with cash related queries and assisting the FC where required. The role will involve working in a fast-paced environment where the ability to work under pressure and to clearly defined deadlines is key. The role will be reporting directly to the Financial Controller and will provide an opportunity to develop and a career foundation for the right candidate.

Experience within a financial services company is preferable.


Responsibilities with oversight from the FC:

  Reconciling bank accounts

  Balancing control accounts

  Monthly journals

  Fixed asset register

  Purchase ledger processing and payments

  Understanding of preparation of accounts to Trial Balance

  Treasury Management

  Managing payment processing of loans

  Processing and reconciliation of loan repayments

  Ensuring that invoices and credits are accurately reported to budget lines

  Reconciling supplier statements

  Processing BACS payment runs and allocating payments to invoices

  Liaising with suppliers to resolve queries

  Placing ad hoc online orders and making credit card payments

  Liaise with suppliers and oversee contracts with office suppliers

  Depositing of cheques

  Generating audit reports and work with the auditors

  Assisting the rest of the team as required

  Ad hoc reporting as required


Technical knowledge

  Preferable – Working towards AAT, ACCA or CIMA

  Excellent knowledge and understanding of Accounting Principles and Procedures

  A knowledge of the financial services industry

  Very strong Excel skills

  A knowledge of the insurance financial services industry

  Knowledge of Money Laundering Regulations

  Knowledge of FCA policies as it relates accounting practices and principles, is desirable

  Knowledge of the consumer lending sector and understanding how this applies to this role, is desirable

  Experience within consumer lending is also desirable but not essential
